Local Government Finance Commission Hosts Preparatory Meeting for FY 2026/2027 Conditional Grant Negotiations
August 1, 2025 | Kampala, Uganda — The Local Government Finance Commission (LGFC) convened a high-level preparatory meeting this week to lay the groundwork for the upcoming negotiations on Conditional Grants for Local Governments for the Financial Year 2026/2027. The meeting Chaired by the Commission Secretary Mr. Adam Babale, brought together key stakeholders from sector ministries, and representatives from local government Associations.
The preparatory meeting, held at the LGFC Secretariat, aimed to align program based approach budgeting and strengthen the framework for equitable, efficient, and accountable fiscal transfers to local governments. Conditional grants play a crucial role in financing key service delivery functions at the local level, including education, health, water, agriculture, and roads.
