LOCAL REVENUE ENHANCEMENT COORDINATING COMMITTEE MEETING HELD AT SILVER SPRINGS HOTEL BUGOLOBI, KAMPALA,
The Commission held a meeting at Silver Springs Hotel Bugolobi, Kampala, on the 23RD May 2025 to discuss on how to better manage markets in Local Governments so as to enhance Local Revenue.
The Commission secretary chaired the meeting and, in his remarks, pointed out that markets are one of the major sources of Local revenue and its management is priority for LGFC for better service delivery. He noted that the new Market Act of 2023 has helped in streamlining its operations and should be followed.
The principal financial analyst Local revenue said that the revenue from markets had improved Market collection from Ugx 53.5 bn → 62.4 bn for FY 2022/2023 and 2023/20 24 respectively.
